Now that I\u2019ve had a taste of fundraising with my raqs sharqi dancer designs, I\u2019ve decided to continue - but with a new charity each month. I\u2019ve been following so many wonderful organizations, and I can\u2019t wait to share more of them with you!<\/p>

I think it\u2019s important to get money to the people working \u201con the ground\u201d as quickly as possible, which to me, means finding and supporting mutual aid efforts<\/u><\/a>. One of the most prominent and effective organizations is Gaza Soup Kitchen. While the bulk of their efforts center on gathering ingredients and feeding people for free, they also go above and beyond in many other ways.<\/p>

Responding to any urgent need in their community, Gaza Soup Kitchen also distributes water,<\/u><\/a> operates a health clinic<\/u><\/a>, built a school<\/u><\/a>, and even distributed hard-to-find warm blankets. As you may have heard, one of the co-founders, Chef Mahmoud, was tragically targeted while attempting to deliver more provisions to the local hospital<\/a>. His brother, Hani Almadhoun, continues fundraising in his memory.<\/p>

Currently they are able to feed many of the people near their multiple kitchens, and they want to raise that percentage with our help.<\/p>

As James Baldwin said, \u201cI can\u2019t afford despair.\u201d There is no way except forward, and I hope we can do it together! And as Chef Mahmoud always said at the end of his videos, \u201cwe will continue.\u201d Thank you so much for your support.<\/p>
