Samia Gamal (سامية جمال) was Egypt's darling dancer, perhaps the first one that most people today would think of. Her fame may have been the most international as well, partially due to her stint in the US. This bedlah seems to be one of her favorites during that time period, as it appears not only on film, but in Life magazine and other 50s press photos as well. This illustration was my first for Art of Raqs, and its airy linework perhaps aptly mirrors her floaty movements.

This two sided design features the Art of Raqs logo on the back.
