The first Freedom Flotilla boat was named \"Madleen\" after the first fisherwoman in Gaza, who followed in her father's footsteps to provide for her family. Today, even the bounty of the sea is denied to Gazans. The siege must be broken, now. As part of Reem's Flotilla collection, we honor all the women whose strength and steadfastness must, of necessity, always be unbreakable.<\/p>
This art also reminds me of how fishermen were finally able to go out and catch fresh food while the occupation was distracted by the Sumud flotilla - the sea provides!<\/p>

She is a woman created to be like a rose, but she grew up amidst the ravages of war and loss\u2026 But her beauty was not broken, but rather hidden in the features of steadfastness, defiance, and patience in the hope that tomorrow will be more beautiful.<\/p>
